Volunteers play an important role in the success of the Art Center Sarasota. Volunteers help in all areas of the Art Center so we literally cannot do it without your help. The schedule can be worked around the time you have available. Get involved and be a part of our future! Please join our team of volunteers today! For more information, please call Barbara Ackerman at 365-2032. Administrative Opportunities: Receptionist/Front Desk Are you a people person? Would you like to meet new friends, and talk about our great arts community? We are looking for several volunteers to help at the front desk by answering the telephones, giving directions, and providing information about Art Center’s events, education opportunities, exhibitions, and workshops. Hours are flexible around your schedule, within our hours of operation Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Mailing Committee In an effort to keep Art Center’s mailing costs low, we prepare our bulk mailings in house. Those on the mailing committee will meet about once a month to help Art Center’s staff fold, tab, and sort materials for various mailings. Grant Research Assistants Volunteer Coordinator
Hospitality Committee Art Center invites you to join our volunteer hospitality committee to help coordinate festive exhibition receptions, potlucks, and evening social events. Hours are flexible. Exhibition Receivings Art Center coordinates approximately 27 exhibitions every year, and we need your help to ensure they run smoothly! Join the receiving team and assist Art Center staff signing in artists and accepting artwork for Juried Exhibitions. Receivings are held approximately every other month from 1pm to 6pm, 2-3 hour shifts. Additional help in needed after receivings to help staff notify artists whether or not their work was accepted into the show. Exhibition Hanging Art Center is looking for art enthusiasts to help us install our shows. If you have art and gallery experience, or are interested in gallery work such as hanging and placing exhibitions and want to get some experience, then this is a great opportunity for you. Exhibition Reception Hosts Join us in hosting Art Center’s exhibition opening receptions. Help ACS staff greet our guests, hand out general information, and give tips on how to view the exhibit. Additional help is needed for food preparation, setup and cleanup. Receptions are held one evening approximately every other month from 5pm to 7pm. Additional Opportunities: Newspaper/Magazine Article Clipper Do you read our area’s newspapers and magazines? Art Center Sarasota is in need of volunteers to scan the area newspapers and magazines for relevant articles regarding the arts and in particular ACS, and help us compile our Historical Scrapbook. Education Set-Up Throughout the year, Art Center serves the Sarasota Community with 45 adult education programs, demonstrations, Creative Kids Saturday classes, and Kids Summer Art Camp. We are looking for volunteers to help us set-up and put away chairs and tables for these education programs. Handyman Do you enjoy working with tools and fixing things? We love our building, but it is over fifty years old! We are looking for volunteers to help with minor repairs, light replacement, paint touch ups, and general building issues. Hours are flexible. Garden Maintenance Art Center is looking for Volunteers who are interested in gardening and working outside to help us beautify and maintain our gardens. This opportunity includes hands on creative gardening, some general raking, watering, and weeding. Hours are flexible. |
