2006 - 2007 EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

Florida
Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition, September 12, 2006
through October 14, 2006.
The Florida Watercolor society is the largest state wide watercolor
group in the country, with over 1500 members. This year’s
President of the Society is Anne Abgott from Bradenton.
Each year there is a highly competitive juried show along with an
educational convention and trade show hosted by a different part of the
state. This year the exhibition will be hosted by Art Center Sarasota
and the week long program of activities will be held at the Hyatt
Hotel. This year’s competitive show, juried by
internationally acclaimed watercolorist, Betsy Dillard Stroud of
Phoenix, Arizona, had over 750 entries and only 91 were accepted and
will be hung in the Main and Front Gallery of Art Center Sarasota. More
than $18,000 in prizes will be awarded during the opening reception on
Friday, September 15th. Details to follow on the individual events and
activities.

Day of the Dead - Juried members
exhibition in Main Gallery.
(Open – The idea for this stimulating exhibition comes from a
very rich tradition begun centuries ago in Mexico where the
“Day of the Dead” is a joyful annual festival to
celebrate those who have passed away.)
Digital Art Exhibition in Front
Gallery.
(Digital painting has been described as “The New Frontier in
Art”. This curated exhibition presents the work of SW.
Florida artists who are exploring these exciting new techniques.)

Holiday Exhibition Open to all in
Main and Members Galleries.
The Opening Reception for the Holiday Exhibition at Art Center Sarasota
is on Thursday, December 7, 5-7 PM.
You can also visit the ACS Holiday Boutique in the front and middle
galleries and the Sarasota Art Educator's Guild exhibition in the
front/north gallery and do all of your holiday gift shopping.

"Save Our Sarasota " a juried Members
exhibition in the Main Gallery. Juror: Ranger Smyth.
"Sarasota Then and Now" a curated
exhibition of paintings and memorabilia in the Front Gallery which
contrast Sarasota's and the Art Center's Past with the situation Today.
ART RECEIVE: 1/3 ART PICK UP: 2/6. No Opening Reception scheduled.
80th Anniversary celebration is Thursday, January
18.

Abstracts juried members exhibition
in the Main Gallery.
Artistic Couples curated in the
Front Gallery.
(Curated – Celebrates St. Valentines Day and represents the
work of artistic couples – some who actually create together
and others whose work is very different)

Wexler and figurative sculpture's by Marci
Weingold.

Main Gallery presents a juried exhibition “Familiar to
Fantastic”
Open to all members of Art Center Sarasota and
Selby Gardens. On February 16th members of both
organizations are invited to paint at Selby Gardens. Rogene Patterson
of Springuel Consulting will jury the exhibit.
