Gifts of Immediate Value
A winter home, stock portfolio, or work of art owned for a long period of time may have appreciated in value so that its sale would result in a sizable tax on the gain. If given outright to Art Center Sarasota, you avoid this capital gains tax and at the same time realize a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the property.

Gifts of Future Value
Real estate can be used as a gift of future value in a retained life estate. For example, you may give your house to Art Center Sarasota with the legal agreement that you will live there and pay property taxes, maintenance, and insurance until your death. You are eligible for an immediate tax deduction based on the fair market value of your property.

Gifts Providing Income
Charitable gift annuities enable you to make a charitable contribution to Art Center Sarasota in exchange for income payments for life. This kind of gift reduces income and estate taxes while providing income for the donor. The donor decides when the benefits will start and who will be the beneficiary.
Charitable remainder trusts work similarly to gift annuities. The donor transfers money, securities, or other property to a trustee. The trustee pays income for life to persons whom the donor has designated. After the lifetime payments have been made, the trustee transfers the amount remaining in the fund to Art Center Sarasota.
Charitable lead trusts are essentially the reverse of the income-producing plans outlined above. You place assets in the trust, and Art Center Sarasota receives the income from the trust until the end of your life. At that time, the trust's assets are transferred to your heirs.
