 Intermediate/Advanced Skill Level





This master series class will provide advanced and intermediate level artists the opportunity to work, and receive feedback and critique. Tom will work with each student on individual elements that make up their unique creative process.  Emphasis will be placed on mentally and physically working through a painting and dealing with the challenges of each piece.  The goal is for each student to finish this class with a better understanding and confidence in their own work.

About the Instructor: 

 imageTom Stephens is a native Floridian and was raised in the Tallahassee Florida. Tom moved to Sarasota in 1993 to attend The Ringling School of art and Design. While attending Ringling, Tom worked on local fishing boats and spent years working as a mate on a fishing charter boat. The marine environment was influential on his work at Ringling and still is today. Tom’s paintings are known for his use of dense textures and exaggerated color. Tom has an active studio in the sapphire shores neighborhood near the Ringling museum. He also captains his own fishing vessel and takes small groups out on fishing excursions on Sarasota’s bays and beaches. He is represented by Mary worner fine arts in West Palm Beach Florida, and Mikel Hunter in Martha’s Vineyard Ma.
