Drew Strouble

Trompe l'Oeil (trohmp loy'): a form of illusionistic painting that attempts to represent an object as though it existed in three dimensions at the surface of the painting; literally, "trick-the-eye". Learn the techniques to create paintings that push the limits of 3D illusion on a 2D surface.

Paint the objects that have special meaning in your life to add your personal touch and symbolism to your work. Drew will take you step-by-step from assembling and lighting your still life. Then he'll teach you accurate drawing tricks, underpainting, glazing techniques and adding those magical finishing touches to complete your very own masterpiece of illusion. Paint in oil on Clay-board or other prepared smooth surface of your choice.

And for all you animal lovers this class will  also be a great opportunity to learn to create pet and animal portraits in the drawing or painting medium of your choice. Drew will not only help you capture a great likeness of your subject but also help you capture the spirit of the animal in your art.

From realistic full body and close-up face portraits to bright colorful whimsical animal techniques, Drew will guide you with personal one-on-one instruction and techniques to achieve your goals. Great for all levels. Beginners welcome.
