Rentals & Special Events Director

Art Center Sarasota is seeking a Rentals & Special Events Director  to develop and execute the organization’s Rental Business venture. The Event Rental Manager will develop, promote, plan, coordinate, and implement rental sales, cultivating clients and outside vendors in a way that produces an excellent service experience for customers. Duties include providing day-of-venue coordination for events, as well as establishing new and maintaining existing  vendor, donor, and client relationships with the Art Center. As a member of our organization, the Rentals & Special Events Director will also play a key role in executing special events for the organization to increase mission impact.

Instructors for Adult Workshops and Classes

We are accepting resumes/CVs for instructors to teach workshops and classes in acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, printmaking (water-based only), pencil, charcoal, drawing, collage, alcohol inks, and small format sculpture (that does not create dust). We DO NOT have a facility for ceramics at this time.

Workshops are 1-3 consecutive days for 3 hours, or for 6 hours each day. Classes are scheduled for 3 hours each week for 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Please include a resume/CV, bio, and website link or images of work.

  • Classes/workshops are scheduled up to a year in advance.

  • Teachers must be able to promote their class/workshop using email, website listing, and social media to contact their previous students. The Art Center will also be promoting classes/workshops.

  • All teachers will have a background check.

  • Teachers will be paid up to 10 business days after their class/workshop ends.

Instructors for Youth Saturday Classes or Summer Camp

We are looking for instructors to teach students from ages 6-15. You can help encourage and engage the artists of the future. Course subjects include acrylic, oil, watercolor, pastel, mixed media, printmaking (water-based only), pencil, charcoal, drawing, collage, alcohol inks, and small format sculpture (that does not create dust). We DO NOT have a facility for ceramics at this time. Youth Instructors will have a background check.


Youth Saturday Programs are weekly,1-4 pm, Sept – March.

Summer Art Camp is all summer May 31-Aug 4, 2023. Monday-Friday, 9 am-3:30 pm.

Figure Models

Life Sessions, our open studio with live models is offered on select Tuesdays from 9:30 am–12:30 pm. There is no instructor for this class that has draped and undraped models that vary in age, sex, and body type each week.

Figure models perform/pose nude in an adult studio/classroom environment as a subject for student artists learning to make drawings, paintings and related artworks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Pose nude or draped for fine art drawing, painting and mixed media.

  • Provide a full range of traditional and creative poses, from gestures to sustained poses.

  • Demonstrate the flexibility and animation of the human form.

  • Maintain poses for a fixed period of time, as well as return to a body position after a break.

  • Bring and wear appropriate attire (a long robe) for before and after sessions, and during breaks.

  • Bring a timer to ensure variations of poses, and calculate break times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum eighteen years old.

  • Comfortable posing nude in small and large group sessions.

  • Previous modeling, sports, yoga or dance experience helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements:

Model platform is raised and models must be able to get up and down from a 2’-3’ platform without assistance. Figure models will be required to hold expressive, animated, and sustained poses throughout the three-hour session.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Adheres to established Art Center Sarasota policies, procedures and safety regulations.

  • Must maintain current contact information and be able to be easily contacted via phone.

  • Regular, prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

  • Ability to take directions regarding a variety of modeling poses.

  • Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.
