Symbolist and Surrealist
Artists have long used symbols to express emotions, memories, dreams, and the unconscious. Objects, symbolism and landscapes can communicate experiences. Most recently my work has depicted domestic women in tenuous emotional states within interior environments. I am interested in exploring femininity and motherhood and their inherent dualities. Figures are reduced to archetypal, silhouetted forms that depict inner lives. Settings are domestic, wild, mundane and fantastical, each opening into different parts of the psyche and identity.
