Delsy Rubio: Echoes: Movement and Permanence
Delsy Rubio’s exhibition brings line, material, and scale together in a visual language of transformation. The exhibition explores the echo not as repetition, but as resonance—shifting, distorting, yet holding onto something essential. Movement becomes both physical and internal, while permanence emerges through coherence: the invisible thread that links each form, gesture, and decision.
Delsy Rubio was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, where she earned a BA in Plastic Expression, with a focus on Drawing, Painting and Graphic Arts, at the Julio Árraga School of Plastic Arts in 1985. After a successful career in graphic design and entrepreneurship, she turned her full focus to her art practice in 2011.
Recognition of her work includes the Honorable Mention at the Chess in Art Salon of the Centro de Bellas Artes Ateneo de Maracaibo in Venezuela in 2014, the Second Prize at the Origins in Geometry Biennial in Dallas, TX, and a Merit Award from Art Center Sarasota in 2023. Her artwork is held in private collections globally and in the permanent collection of the Museum of Geometric & MADI Art. Delsy has exhibited in Venezuela, the United States, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, and Spain.
Artist Statement: My artistic process, framed within geometric abstraction, is monochromatic and minimalist. It focuses on the study of line, light, shadow, volumes, reliefs, and multi level forms, using the circle as a base figure, outside of geometric conventions. I draw inspiration from intangible concepts that explore the relationship between nature, the universe, and humanity, seeking visual metaphors that connect these elements.
The Collective Lens
The Collective Lens is a dynamic group exhibition showcasing the recent photographic works of member artists who have participated in Art Center Sarasota’s peer critique program over the past two years. What began in March 2023 as “Artists on Art – A Peer Critique” has grown into a vibrant and supportive community of photographers, gathering monthly to exchange ideas, offer constructive feedback, and explore the ever-evolving possibilities of their medium.
This diverse group reflects a wide spectrum of photographic approaches—from traditional analog techniques to experimental processes and bold digital manipulation. Each artist brings a unique perspective, and together their work forms an eclectic and thought-provoking visual dialogue. From striking color compositions to intimate documentary and street photography, The Collective Lens captures the depth and range of contemporary photographic expression.
More than a showcase of individual talent, the exhibition is a testament to the power of community and creative exchange. The photographs on view represent not only the personal growth of each artist, but also the collaborative spirit that defines their shared experience.
The Collective Lens celebrates photography’s ability to illuminate, question, and connect—both within the frame and beyond it. It is a reflection of the artistic journeys shaped through dialogue and mutual support, and a powerful example of the kind of creative community fostered at Art Center Sarasota.
Russ Noto: OF FORM AND FUTILITY: Works Based on the Pastoral of André the Giant and Samuel Beckett
Russ Noto’s upcoming exhibition explores the environment through paintings that evoke a strong sense of place anchored by a figurative presence. In these works, text, gesture, and form step in as stand-ins for the figure in a subtle but dramatic mythology that exists in an amazingly verdant and artificial space.
The idea for this exhibition is based off of the real-life interaction between Samuel Beckett and André the Giant. The playwright would give young André a ride to school and, factually speaking, this is really all that is known about their relationship. However, there is conjecture around their interaction and the topic of their conversations. Where historical fact ends in this situation, studio research begins. Russ draws from the physicality of the wrestler and the cerebral vocation of the absurdist to create a dialogue of form and concept against blooming meadows.
Russ Noto received his MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2012. He has exhibited both nationally and internationally, with notable inclusions in SCOPE: New York and SCOPE: Miami. His work is part of Savannah College of Art and Design's Permanent Collection in addition to private collections in China, Slovakia, Canada, France, and across the U.S. His paintings have been published in American Art Collector, New American Paintings, and in 2018 he published a catalogue of his work entitled Flowers and Concrete. Russ Noto currently lives and works in the Philadelphia area.

This exhibition seeks work that defies expectation and reinvents tradition. We’re looking for pieces that experiment boldly—with process, form, and concept. Whether through unexpected techniques, hybrid materials, or subversive approaches to craft, the work in Medium Mutiny resists easy categorization.
If your creative practice breaks boundaries, blurs lines, and challenges how art is made—or how it's perceived—we want to see it. Medium Mutiny is a celebration of fearless experimentation. Show us how you turn convention on its head and redefine what art can be or how it communicates.
