Juror Willem van Osnabrugge

Annual Juried Members Show
On View Jan 22 - Feb 21, 2026
Opening Night Reception: Thursday, Jan 22, 5-7 pm

The Annual Juried Members Show celebrates the incredible breadth and depth of talent within Art Center Sarasota’s vibrant member community. Unbound by a theme, this exhibition offers an open invitation into the diverse creative worlds of our artists.

What sets this exhibition apart is its inclusivity: every member artist who submits is guaranteed a place in the show. This democratic approach highlights our commitment to accessibility and artistic equity, while creating a rich and varied visual dialogue. The Annual Juried Members Show is not only a celebration of individual vision, but a powerful reflection of the collective creativity that defines the ACS community.

This year, in honor of our Centennial, the exhibition expands to fill all four of our gallery spaces—making it a joyful and powerful way to celebrate 100 years of creativity, community, and the enduring spirit of art in Sarasota. Become a member.

Meet the Juror, Willem van Osnabrugge:

Upcoming Exhibitions

On View: March 5 - April 18, 2026
Opening Night Reception: Thursday, March 5, 5-7 pm

Herion Park

Gallery 1 - Herion Park
Herion Park’s upcoming installation displays sculptural family portraits built of textiles, discarded or re-purposed objects, life-cast anatomical forms, and organic materials. These forms are made to particularly voice the love-bond she and her sisters shared with her mother. Her sculptures resonate universal issues surrounding the complexities of all love relationships. The work is about the safe world that her mother created for the family through her unconditional love. Park offers this world to the viewer as a point of departure into the power which universal unconditional love has to create joy and heal the heart.

Herion Park is a Korean born, American visual artist, fashion designer, and educator. She received a BFA in Painting and Fashion Design and an MDes in Fashion, Body and Garment from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has participated in an expansive list of significant exhibitions. Awards include a HALO Arts Project Fellowship, Windgate Fellowship for Innovation in Craft, and Raymond Hudd Millinery Crossover Award. Her residency invitations include The Vermont Studio, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Hambidge, and Yaddo.

Artist Statement: As a sculptor, I navigate vital interrelationships between the costume and societal implications. When reduced to the essential, my work expresses love, loss, desire, and triumph; love for life and the force within us, loss of the ability to reach or commune with that force, because of death or distance, or the happenstances of birth, desire to be one with humanity and thrive, and in the end, the unfailing triumph of spirit.

GALLERY 2 – Rooted in Community

Rooted in Community is a group exhibition that honors and highlights the rich contributions of artists from Sarasota’s Newtown and Overtown communities—two historically Black neighborhoods whose cultural and creative voices have profoundly shaped the city’s artistic identity. Spanning generations and styles, this exhibition will feature the work of established and emerging artists whose roots in Newtown and Overtown reflect a visual narrative of innovation and artistic excellence. These artists have not only documented the cultural evolution of Sarasota but have actively contributed to its growth as a creative city.

Co-curated by Paul Toliver, Rooted in Community is more than an exhibition—it recognizes Newtown and Overtown artists' cultural impact and enduring presence in Sarasota. Through this show, Art Center Sarasota affirms its role as a place where community, history, and the arts unite to shape a more inclusive and vibrant creative future.

Paul Toliver is a passionate arts advocate. He is currently the Treasurer of the Jazz Club of Sarasota. Paul previously served as Chair of the African American and Caribbean Arts Council of the Seattle Art Museum and was a member of the Seattle Art Museum Board of Trustees. Paul is the former Chair of the Arts and Culture Committee of the Manasota Chapter of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History. He served as a board member of the Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative where he now serves as Artist Consultant and Curator. He was a juror and judge for the 2023 International Embracing Our Differences art competition in Sarasota.

Medium Mutiny

This exhibition seeks work that defies expectation and reinvents tradition. We’re looking for pieces that experiment boldly—with process, form, and concept. Whether through unexpected techniques, hybrid materials, or subversive approaches to craft, the work in Medium Mutiny resists easy categorization.

If your creative practice breaks boundaries, blurs lines, and challenges how art is made—or how it's perceived—we want to see it. Medium Mutiny is a celebration of fearless experimentation. Show us how you turn convention on its head and redefine what art can be or how it communicates.

Meet the Juror, Ed Swan Jr.:

Ed Swan Jr. has over 35 years experience in institutional investment management and marketing. He received a BA from Tufts University and a MBA from the Wharton School.
