MEET CHERI SHERIDAN

Sarasota Artist/Art Instructor

Cheri Sheridan is a local artist who has spent much of her adult life exploring printmaking, fiber arts and methods of surface design.

For twenty six years she taught junior high art, collaborating with her students to pursue cultural and environmental themes. Often the results culminated in making masks, costumes, scenery and adding drama to share this knowledge with younger students.

Cheri presently winters in southern Florida and is enjoying being a student again; finding new adventures in the unexpected results that come with printmaking and fabric collage. She cherishes the creative feedback that she is receiving from her fellow art quilters in the Quilt Divas, the Finger Lakes Art Quilter’s,  and the Sisterhood of the Scissors.

Cheri finds inspiration for her print and fabric designs in the ephemeral quality of life in the style of wabi-sabi. She especially likes the processes of batik and other methods of resist dyeing and enjoys adding touches of the human hand by using stitches and embellishments in her work.
